Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer and consultant, a speaker, columnist syndicated, author, and TV presenter. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared in each season of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February of 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next during Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes relied on the free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran remembers her fatheras one who would drink too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd had some drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and she later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at a Catholic elementary school in her community and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After flunking several courses during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
