Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964 was a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and is the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. She is a member and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then to the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and was she was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform, federal cannabis de-scheduling, an opportunity to become a citizen for immigrants without a legal status as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons as well as progressive tax reform. National attention was gained for her sharp examination of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
